OMO Varzenal Cup
Brand World
Aired 2025/26
Problem

The Varzenal design system is rooted in the raw, unfiltered aesthetic of várzea football—an ecosystem where the dirt pitch is the nucleus, and everything around it fuels its spirit. From the ‘Caramelo’ street dog to the post-match ‘boteco’, from the improvised signage to the goal posts without nets, every detail speaks to the authenticity of the game.

This is football played in neighborhoods, on makeshift fields, often without proper infrastructure, but always with deep community ties. It’s a space of cultural expression, resilience, and social connection.

OMO has long been a silent part of this culture, used by amateur players to wash their kits after the game-a ritual as ingrained as the matches themselves. The challenge was to create a brand system that could authentically live within this world, without imposing an external or overly polished design language.

Idea / Solution

The brand enters this story naturally, without distraction, simply embracing its place in the fabric of várzea. Rather than designing for the culture, we built the system from it.

The design system captures this world with a language that feels instinctive to those who live it and intriguing to those discovering it. Working with Brazilian designers embedded in this culture, we translated real textures, materials, and visual codes into a cohesive identity system.

Handcrafted typography, a restrained color palette, and illustrated motifs drawn from everyday várzea life created a tactile and flexible design language. This system was applied consistently across all touchpoints, from film and social content to physical environments, ensuring both cultural authenticity and visual coherence.

By preserving imperfections rather than refining them, the system allowed OMO to integrate into várzea naturally, while building a distinctive and scalable brand world.
